Josep Poch studied Law with a view to becoming a Notary in France. In 1990 he returned to Barcelona and went to work for the construction company Dumez-Copisa. He met a young man there, François Carriere, with whom he forged a strong professional and personal bond. In 19989, this connection resulted in the Prestige Real Estate company, part of the John Taylor brand owned by François’s family. At the same time he continued to be involved in other projects as a specialist in the management and optimization of Convention Centres. From 2003 to 2005 he was Director General in Spain of French group GL Events and won the public tender to manage the Barcelona International Convention Centre, the biggest centre of its kind in southern Europe. In 2003 he was appointed member of the Board of Administration of La Chambre de Commerce et d´Industrie Française de Barcelone. He has always been deeply attached to his roots, and for several years he was closely involved in the public management of his home town. In 2002 he joined the board of trustees of the Joan Amades i Gelats foundation. Guided by his entrepreneurial spirit and with great confidence in the future of the luxury real estate market here in Spain, in 2012 he and Carriere took a major business decision and acquired the Coldwell Banker Master Franchise for Spain and Andorra.
He describes himself as an austere person and an avid reader, and he admits that he couldn’t live without a book by his side. Barcelona is his favourite city and Kennedy a historic figure with a profound influence on his life. He treasures a childhood memory of his very first train journey to France to see his father. He advocates world peace and his dream home would have a history, not exactly a historic monument but with lots of stories to tell.
